Bali

A couple years ago we had Compassion come to Encounter an challenge us of the need for ordinary people like us to help the underprivileged people of our world. And as a result a number of people from the congregation committed themselves to children who were in need in the region around Denpasar, Bali. A small community there were in need of a helping hand. There still are great needs in that community and for the people that we support, financially, physically, mentally, emotionally; and no greater need than their spiritual welfare.

In order to help the people that we are supporting, we not only want to be their financial supporters, but also be able to minister to them in less tangible, yet a most needful way. We are going to Bali to meet and and minister.
The needs of the people of Bali are quite apparent, so we are asking ourselves what can we also do, not necessarily financially, though that is very necessary, but how do we become the people that God wants us to be, what is our world view. How are we living knowing that our brothers and sisters are living day-to-day without all of their needs being fully met.

On 31 October Encounter held a quiz night at its Wangara premises to benefit the people of Bali. Many individuals and businesses helped by making donations. The proceeds will go toward the work to be done and the gifts given by the team visiting Bali during January 2010.
