Encounter Church are a group of related communities of people who to seek to live out the Christian faith in a way that is real and relevant for today's world.

What We Do

Encounter Church We provide resources and encouragement for people to discover the wonders of the Christian faith. Our resources include a variety of courses and services where everyone can find practical and effective Christian principles for living a successful life. People discover their value and worth as individuals, purpose for which they exist, and a sense of belonging within the scheme of life.

Our History

Encounter Church has been the vision of an inspired group of people who desired to help and encourage the people in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia.


The church was originally started in the suburb of Balga under the Churches of Christ banner by Nollamara Church of Christ in 1971. Qver thirty years it has successfully encouraged our community to grow and develop as free and successful people.

In 2001 a new phase for the church began, culminating in moving to the church’s current central building in Wangara in 2004. With the new building the opportunity to serve and encourage people increased. We have become better able to resource the community with a greater number of relevant services than before.

Our dream has been to be a congregation which meets not necessarily in the one location, but in fact meets in many places, at the places and times which suit those particular congregations.

So in 2005, we began partnering with Ellenbrook Church of Christ using the facilities in Mornington Parkway for the local community there. They have now become a part of Encounter Church.

In 2007, the then Maylands Church of Christ decided to close and become part of the Encounter group of churches. An exciting development is the launch of GenerosiTea, a missional ministry which will support the poor, connect with the community and help fund the church’s wider ministry.
